The Challenge

SCORE, is the organiser of one of the largest marathons in the country, the SCORE Marathon. With the government's implementation of the Movement Control Order in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, companies are no longer able to organise mass participation events. How then do we continue to engage with runners?

The Solution

To remedy the situation, SCORE launched the SCORE Stay Home & Run 5K Challenge. Working with the insight that runners were just dying for a run, the event challenged them to get creative and find some space in their homes to do a 5km run.

The campaign was kickstarted with a video made solely with Mantra's team running around their homes - on their porches, around their living room, along their balconies, in their gardens, around there dining table and more. Runners were invited to participate for free to get a commemorating e-certificate, and a PRIME shopping voucher.

Participants were also given an option to update to a premium package that included a Medal, a Finisher Tee, a host of other goodies. This premium package also included a donation to a local charity, the Dana Untuk Nasi Malaysia, to help the underprivileged.

The Result

The event attracted over 3,000 participants with over 45% taking up the premium package. SCORE also received many testimonials and private messages of people grateful to get a running event during the lockdown. And the cherry on top was the fact that SCORE is still able to generate a revenue despite not organising a traditional running event.
